Southern Gulf Island Private Island Gem
Sheep Island is conveniently located a short distance from Saanich on southern Vancouver Island. This is a beautifully diverse 7 acre private island that offering varied topographical & vegetation features commonly found in the Southern Gulf Islands. A series of easy walking trails meander throughout the island & the old growth forest. There is an expansive garden area, an orchard & ponds for water retention. There are a variety of improvements throughout the island, most of them constructed some time ago therefore definitely rustic & in need of a little TLC but functional & charismatic in their own right. The location provides for excellent protected deep water moorage. Currently there is approx. 120 linear feet of dock secured by pilings. A ramp leads up to a classic old shop perched on a standing pier extending out over the ocean. Along the ocean shore is a sea water swimming pool bordered in with stone many years ago. It fills with water at high tide & you are literally in the ocean as you sit in your pool. Located in the centre of the island is a large shop with an old Ruston Lincoln England functioning as a generator. The Saanich Peninsula provides quick access to the Victoria International Airport, the BC Ferries Schwartz Bay Terminal & the Anacortes Ferry Sidney Terminal, as well as boating access to the southern Gulf Islands of BC & the San Juan Islands of Washington State. The Saanich Peninsula is home to a variety of fresh food producers. The nearby town of Sidney provides all amenities including schools, shopping, banking & medical services.
